The games you are referring to are of the arcade auto-combat genre whereas Interstate '76 is of the simulation auto-combat genre. You should really try it :)

Vigilante 8 is also simulation =.=

The one with the turkey legs
and twisted metal is arcade

---Vigilante 8 was a direct spinoff of Interstate '76
Just with a better Engine and a better system

I know what vigilante 8 is: an indirect arcade spin-off of I76 on a crappier (although more stable) engine on a crappier system.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I82 was a cruel joke on I76. V8 was just as bad. I76 did crash once in a while. Heck, there's even a program called I76 Anti-Crash. The fact that such a program existed just goes to show how great the game was and what people would do to keep it going. I have practically lived my time in front of a screen in that Picard Piranha, blowing up 'them Creeper maggots'. I still play when I get the time. Otherwise, it's just the 'Play' disc from track 2 on my hi-fi.

Interstate '82 was hardly a 'simulation' like Interstate '76, but it was still a damn good game.

Vigilante 8 series brought their own unique flavour to the genre.
This is just a placeholder...
