Hello IO followers -- what little we have left these days!

As you may know, at the very end of last year, the dev team was going through deliberations on new engines. We had decided that continuing to pursue the course of developing our own from scratch was getting us nowhere fast. After a thorough investigation, we settled on two engines -- UDK and Crysis. Initially we favored UDK and we made the mistake of not giving Crysis enough of a chance. There were a lot of perceived limitations with switching to Crysis which made us shy away from it. Prematurely, we decided on -- and I made the final decision to -- switch to UDK. After posting it in the news and putting out new job positions, we realized the mistake we had made. We went over the details of Crysis and UDK again and decided we had, indeed, made a grave mistake. I apologize to the community for making a premature decision.

With that said, it is official that IO is switching to the Crysis engine. There are some drawbacks that some people in the open source community may not like, but we have to keep the mission in mind. Our objective is to recreate the Interstate series and then take it step-by-step and update it and make it better. Too many mods and indie games have failed because their goals were too ambitious. As the team leader, I have many tasks among the team, but my mission is to produce what Activision could not. I promise you, we will make it happen.

To show you I really mean business, I'm offering a college student (with the appropriate degree program) a paid position as a programmer for IO. The money will come directly out of my pocket. It won't make you rich, but it may buy some beer. Feel free to PM me on the forums with your experience with Crysis, education, background, and whatever other personal details you wish to share. Serious inquiries only.

Best Wishes,
Logan

Hey everybody! As you may know, IO has been stalled for quite some time. After much deliberation within the team, we've decided to switch to the recently released UDK engine. We have just posted the positions that we are looking to fill in the IO forums. Check it out here.

UDK has a very promising base for us and Epic has been kind enough to provide it. We're going to work very hard to get this project rolling again.

See you soon!

Hey everybody! Just a few hours to go until 2009. On behalf of the development team and myself, Happy New Year!

For all the programmers reading this, we're in need of people proficient in Python and C++. The more programmers we can get on board the better! Feel free to post in the forums or send one of the dev team members a private message.
